S Files Pro X does everything you expect from a file manager: copy, cut, paste, rename, delete, and create new files and folders. Version 3.0 rewrote all of these from the ground up for speed and reliability, and they come with a few extras.
Follow every step in the progress viewer
The progress viewer shows each copy, move and delete as it happens, step by step, with a colored mark for each item that succeeded or failed. To have it open as soon as a file operation starts, turn on Settings > File Operations > Show Progress Viewer Automatically for File Operations. Otherwise, click its icon whenever you want to check on an operation.
Drag and drop
- Drop files and folders inside a tab’s folder, onto a folder in the list, onto a tab’s header, or into the other pane.
- Choose whether dragging copies or moves by default in Settings > File Operations > Drag and Drop Action. Hold Ctrl when dropping to copy, even if the default is set to move.
When a file already exists
Under Settings > File Operations > If Item Exist in Destination, choose whether S Files Pro X should Generate Unique Names, Replace the existing item, or Skip it.
Delete your way
- Delete moves items to the Recycle Bin; Shift+Delete deletes them permanently.
- Turn on Always Delete Permanently if you never use the Recycle Bin, and Show Delete Confirmation if you want to be asked before anything is deleted.
Built-in zip
- Compress the selected files and folders into a zip file, or extract a zip, without another app. Turn on Ask for Name While Creating a New Compressed File to name each zip as you create it.
- Open a zip file to browse it like a folder.
Handy extras
- New files from templates: create Word, PowerPoint and other documents from the new file menu.
- Paste from the clipboard as a file: paste a screenshot to save it as a PNG, or copied text to save it as a text file. How it works.
- Keep copied files after closing the app: turn on Make Clipboard Data Available Even After the App is Closed to paste them in another app later.
- New items land where you can see them: a new file, folder or zip is selected and scrolled into view, in its sorted place.
- Copy several files at once: an experimental setting runs file operations in parallel when possible.
